Sports – particularly basketball – is what anchors our organization. This allows us to reach out to children from the communities we work in. Finding neglected land spaces and reconstructing them into safe and inclusive playgrounds for these children is of major interest to us. Free sports equipment and sports gear are provided. Great coaches who are committed to seeing development in players are available to work with.

These resources help to curtail violence in communities and especially among the youth as sports is a healthy and smart way to keep young people positively engaged.

Basketball Programme

Our Basketball programme is in four tiers.

NEXTGEN

This first tier caters to Primary and Junior High School students. This is TUSK’s first level of engagement with young basketball enthusiasts. These are our youngest players. They have the potential to move on to the next level in our Basketball training programme. We offer unique after-school programmes and weekend training sessions to students at this level.

DEVS-WOLVES

This is our next level of engagement. It caters to our Senior High School student athletes. Here, they are encouraged to work harder on the court and in school as they are greater opportunities to showcase their talents at this level. We anticipate that hard work and discipline will move them to the next level of education and simultaneously qualify them to enter the next level of TUSK’s basketball programme.

TUSK-D2

TUSK-D2 is our third level. At this level, our target group is university student athletes. Many more tournaments and avenues exist for TUSK-D2 players in their respective colleges all the way up to the national level.

PACESETTERS

Our final tier is the highest level of basketball in the TUSK Foundation Basketball Programme. We anticipate that hardworking players work their way up to this level. By the time a player is regarded as a Pacesetter, he/she should have acquired enough skill, knowledge and passion for the game to double as a training assistant for our young athletes in the NextGen programme.
